Pulkovo Airport (IATA: LED) serves a wide variety of destinations both international and domestic. Terminal 1 serves domestic flights, selected international charter flights and low-cost airlines, while Terminal 2 is reserved for international connections. The airport is located approximately 17 kilometers south from the center.

Getting from airport to the city

Taxis at Terminals 1 and 2 have now joined a structured pricing scheme based on geographic zones, and taxis can be ordered from the service booth in the arrivals hall (Terminal 1 - before baggage claim; Terminal 2 - by the exit door to the street). The fixed price for a taxi to the central district (Nevsky Prospekt/Hermitage area) is about 800 RUB, for example, plus luggage surcharges. Traffic is usually quite heavy in the city, so plan on about two hours minimum during the day to get to the city by car.
A cheaper option is to take a bus to the nearest Metro station, Moskovskaya, which will cost you only 19 RUB (Bus 39 to/from terminal-1, bus 13 to/from terminal-2). You will also have to pay another 19 RUB for a suitcase. From there you can go to any station on the Saint Petersburg Metro for a 22 RUB (.80 USD) token. Again, if you have luggage, you must pay 44 RUB and get a different token to allow you through the wide luggage gate.

Lappeenranta Airport

Lappeenranta airport in Finland is a small provincial airport located near the border of Russia and offers a low-cost alternative to Pulkovo Airport. The airport is located only 2 km from the center. Direct coach connection from Lappeenranta to Saint Petersburg leaves from railway station of Lappeenranta and the duration is about 6 hours. Connection buses from Lappeenranta to Vainikkala railway station offer possibility to use a train from Lappeenranta to Saint-Petersburg.
